its getting closer
Well we are just getting the last final bits of paperwork organised for the bank etc. Just need a certified copy of the contract for the first home buyers grant and that is all pretty much organised. I think we need one more document from the bank to confirm our mortgage. Also have got an email to tell us that our construction drawings are being completed and should be done in a couple of days. This very cool, as once they are done, the permits are done and all the items needed to build are ordered from the suppliers and our new home can be built. I can't wait!! The closer it gets to sire start the more excited I become. I can't wait to have our own home and make it our own. Must go. Will try and upload pictures later, maybe tomorrow and i'm going to start making a list of all the things i'm looking forward to and what I want to buy.
Ta Ta for now!

the land is practically ours!!
Hey all,
We have just posted the transfer of land document off. This means that by the middle of this week the land should officially be ours!! This then means that the rest of the documents can be processed and then we will hopefully be able to start building by the start of January. It's all getting very, very exciting and I really can't wait!! I'm gonna put up some pics of our block in another post and also some other pics to like the facade.
Til my next post!

possible good news received
We received a letter in the mail this past week with news that our block should be ready in early December. This means that our land should be titled by Xmas and we will possibly be able to be start building in Jan, rather than Feb which means our house would hopefully be finished early and we can move earlier and get out of this house with its leaks and door that gets stuck. I've had enough of being here but I can't fast forward time to have our house built. I'm starting to feel an emptiness almost being here as it kinda doesn't feel like home anymore because so many things are going wrong with this place and I feel claustrophobic and want more space. I also see things I want to buy for the new house but know there is no point buying anything yet because its only going to be more stuff to move when the time comes....ok I could rant all night but I must go for now....I might start collecting pictures of cool things I want for the new house so I can upload them on here other day.....Caz

Building contract signed!
We have officially signed our building contract....it was very fun and scary at the same time....it took about 2 and half hours....it all gets sent to the bank by them which makes it so much easier and means we don't have to really deal with the bank much at all now....except for paying them for the loan....We have all the elevations and plans and its great to see how everything is going to come together and what size the windows are so we start thinking about window furnishings.....all I need now is a fast forward remote so the house can be built sooner....i'm so sick of this renting stuff.....catch ya Caz

tile selection appointment complete
I went to the tile selection appointment today....and I stuck to my guns and didn't change any of my colours....well I decided to go chocolate brown in the main shower to match the cupboards and went for a large whitish tile in the ensuite shower as this looked better with the cupboard colour we chose for the ensuite....the kitchen and laundry splashback is a light coffee kinda colour and it all ties in very nice with the floor tiles....i will take pictures hopefully tomorrow and upload them on here....

i've chosen...well kinda
I have pretty much chosen my colours and just in time. Our colour selection appoinment is booked for tomorrow and I don't want to have to think about things to much when i'm there. I just want to say I want that and that and be done with it. I will upload pics after our appointment because we don't have samples of everything as we changed our minds about some colours. Must be going now. Will update later.

what do I choose?
I started a scrapbook last night of kitchen and bathroom pictures that I like to help in selecting our colours after our tour tomorrow. I'm really not sure what i'm going to pick. I'm thinking of a chocolate brown or slightly lighter for the kitchen cupboards and bathroom vanities....although i'm possibly thinking of having different colours in the kitchen and bathroom but have the laundry match the bathrooms. One thing I know is that dark benchtops are not going to happen because they are incredibly difficult to keep clean.
I was thinking of a beige/stone coloured carpet but after visiting some more display homes again over the last few weekends i'm thinking that even a light grey might be ok as it would still go with our furniture and won't show the dirt. Tiles i'm still unsure about. I want the same tiles all the way through the house expect for the bedrooms and family room. I'm thinking of a beige again but definitely something non-gloss. They are just too slippery. I'm going to have off-white creamy walls and white ceilings so at least I know that.
I will upload photos of some of the samples I get tomorrow and my selections when I've decided.

Colours, colours.....it's a blur!
Hi all,
Our colour selection tour has been booked for Saturday....This is the first appointment for touring for and looking at all the colours available....i'm so overwhelmed and I haven't even been there yet. I know it's gonna be amazing and a huge shock and all that is available. I will probably have to go there in the school holidays without my boyfriend to pick the final colours because if I don't go then we won't be able to pick our colours until October and that is getting a little to late apparently. I'm kinda excited!!!!! Ok i'm very excited!!!!! This makes it seem so much more real!! I'm going to go and buy a scrapbook and spend the next couple of nights at home cutting out things I like and make a scrapbook to help me with my choices. Til next time, Caz

Our plans!
Its all started...
We are on the way to building our new home. We have chosen our house and paid the deposit on it and our block of land in the Highlands Estate in Cragieburn. Its a beautiful estate and is going to be an awesome place to live. This blog is going to cover everything over the time we build our home. I will include colour selections, plans and pictures as our house is built. We are very excited about it. Its going to be a fantastic and exciting journey, hopefully with not to many downs, although I will encourage ups. We are building with Simonds, as we loved the layout of their homes and there prices were reasonable. I found when looking at layouts that some homes, like Porter Davis, were not planned very well. For example they have the laundry right next to the kitchen and meals area. I thought that was a really stupid design. The layout of the home was a big factor in our choosing builders. We also get recycled water in our estate for the garden, toilet and washing machine, which is going to save us a lot of money now that the price of water has gone up. Anyway I better sign off for today, I have some things to do. I'll upload a plan of our house in another post.
